International Animal Rights Day

…is today, 10 December!

Well, I mean, I was always going to default to my top three alphas, right?

I was also going to start this off by writing, ‘Apropos of nothing, I was thinking about horses’, but I am always thinking about horses, so I guess that is ‘apropos of something’?

So I was thinking of how very much we ask of them and how much they strive to give that to us; when they don’t, the knee-jerk inclination, maybe, is to brand them recalcitrant or sour or silly, when they may be be in pain or bored or fed up.

In much the same way we as humans react when in pain, or when we’re bored or fed up. At least we have spoken language… mostly… to express ourselves with.

International Animals Rights Day is one in which we can speak for animals – today is also by no coincidence, Human Rights Day.
